Why should I study abroad?
Study abroad lends breadth and depth to an undergraduate education--and it can last anywhere from a few weeks with students from Appalachian to an entire semester on your own at a university of your choice.
For the Global Connections Certificate, a study abroad program that includes at least 3 course credits is required.
Appalachian has a variety of opportunities available for credit, from alternative service experiences and faculty-led programs to study abroad exchanges that last for a semester or a year. Alternative service experiences abroad can also count toward the certificate's service requirement!
What about the financial cost?
Costs vary depending on the program, but financial aid and scholarships are available. Click on the following links for scholarships and grants available for study abroad.
