Foreign Languages

Why should I learn another language?

Learning a language other than English sets you on the path to becoming a global citizen.  If you wish to obtain the Global Connections certificate, we ask that you complete at least two sequential years of college-level courses, which at Appalachian corresponds to the 1050/1060 level or higher.

What languages are offered at Appalachian?

Through the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (DLLC), Appalachian State offers a variety of languages throu, including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Other languages that are offered through the UNC Online System can be found here.
